Agriculture is a prosperity equaliser, states Lusaka

Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka has named agriculture as an effective prosperity equaliser.
Speaking in Mombasa County during an agriculture stakeholders forum, governor Lusaka said counties should harness their agricultural potential for wealth creation.
“Each county has its strengths and capabilities; let us harness them," said the former Senate Speaker.
Lusaka doubles up as chair of the agriculture committee in the Council of Governors (CoG).
"The challenge before us today is to ensure that we develop diverse, resilient, and profitable agricultural value chains that are inclusive, sustainable, and capable of delivering,” said Lusaka.
"There is need for counties to reflect on the value chain and agree on the best opportunities in these value chains for commercialization and food security."
He thanked the World Bank for continued support of agricultural initiatives in the country.
“We are grateful for the financial assistance provided by the World Bank, for their faith in our capabilities, and for their invaluable role in supporting us to build robust value chains that can propel our economy forward," Lusaka added.
The county boss called on counties to be careful while deliberating on the various value chains, bearing in mind unique needs and potential of individual counties.
