All set for coronation of Luo Council of elders chair

It is all systems go for the coronation of the new Luo Council of elders chairman (Ker) Odungi Randa.
The ceremony is set for Friday, 22nd December, 2023 at Kisumu's Ofafa Hall.
Randa who becomes the 9th Luo Ker, was elected by members of the council of elders, during the luo festival in Homabay county, in July.
Addressing the press at the City Hall on Wednesday, Kisumu county deputy governor Mathew Ochieng Owili said everything is set for the event.
Owili is the chair of the coronation committee set up days ago.
"After coronation, Odungi Randa will become the custodian of the luo culture," said Owili.
According to the DG, they expect guests from various parts of the world including the United States of America (USA), South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and DRC to attend the coronation.
Bishop Kasuku Kalolo, chair, luo council of elders in Kisumu county said they are ready for the historic day.
"It is now time for us to come together and celebrate his coronation. Luos are a big nation and Odungi Randa is our Ker," said Bishop Kalolo.
"I want to encourage the luo nation to stand and support the occasion, to stand and support our new leader," stated Kisumu Central Member of Parliament (MP) Joshua Oron.
The first term legislature doubles up as the inauguration committee's vice chairperson.
Azimio La Umoja One Kenya and ODM leader Raila Odinga is the luo council of elders patron.
Odungi Randa will replace Willis Opiyo Otondi who died in April, 2023.
