Boda Boda rider fined for operating without insurance cover

A bodaboda rider was on Tuesday fined Sh. 5,000 or two months’ imprisonment for operating his business without a valid insurance cover.

Simon Macharia appeared before Murang’a Chief Magistrate, Peter Ndwiga charged that on June 13 along Kahuro-Murang’a road, he was found riding his motorcycle without having a valid insurance cover.

He pleaded guilty to the charges. According to prosecution facts, Macharia was apprehended by Murang’a traffic police who were manning the road at around 5pm.

In his mitigation, he pleaded for leniency saying if given a chance he would renew his insurance cover.
