The Council of Elders in Bomet has lauded the swift move by the Interior Ministry to restore peace and security in different parts of the country.

Led by the Chairperson Thomas Cherutany, the council said the Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki did the necessary to make sure security was restored in the country.

Cherutany said the protests that have been witnessed in the country ought not to have been experienced and that the opposition leadership should accept that the current government was legitimate and the opposition has to respect it.

“In every competition, we have those who win and the parties that don’t triumph, that doesn’t mean that they are losers. It’s unfortunate what the country has been experiencing in the last two weeks, looting, loss of lives, we shouldn’t be experiencing this; both parties need to sit down and talk,” explained Cherutany.

On the relationship between President Dr William Ruto and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the elders urged the Azimio leaders to accept the reality and support the current regime to deliver on its agenda.

The council further argued that the Former Prime Minister should present Azimio’s grievances to the national assembly through their elected members for those issues to be dealt with.

They however noted that its high time leaders from different factions worked together in the realization of the economy of this Country.
