Dorcas Gachagua: Mackenzie is a criminal

By Peter Ochieng

Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's wife on Thursday expressed anger over the death of 100 people who were forced to fast in order to 'meet Jesus.'

The Second Lady said Paul Mackenzie of the Good News International (GNI) 'Church' who reportedly forced his followers into the fast, is not a Pastor.

She said Mackenzie is a criminal who should face the full force of the law, if found guilty of having led over 100 people to death.

She spoke in Nairobi, during a widows feeding event at the House of Grace Church.

The Second Lady said Mackenzie should be treated as an individual criminal, without dragging in leaders of other churches, and his family.

“If Paul Mackenzie is a criminal, he should be treated as an individual. Even his family should not be part of his crime. Paul Mackenzie is not the church, in fact, he has said he is not a pastor but he is Mr Paul."

She added, “We have a law where when somebody is a criminal the procedure should be followed, but we cannot stand there and say because one Christian has been caught in a compromising situation, the whole body of Christ should be condemned; No, we must stop that, because it is not right.”

Her sentiments were echoed by her husband, Rigathi Gachagua speaking during a different forum.

Last week,  President William Ruto termed Mackenzie a terrorist.

Postmortem of the bodies discovered in Shakahola is expected to start today.
