Gachagua has overtaken Uhuru in Mt. Kenya - Sabina Chege

Nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Sabina Wanjiru Chege believes former President Uhuru Kenyatta no longer has a political say in the Mt. Kenya region.

Chege in an interview on Inooro TV said Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is now Mt. Kenya's political kingpin.

"No ceremony is needed to know that Mr Gachagua is the kingpin of Mt Kenya by virtue of the political position he occupies," said the former Murang'a County Women Representative.

This week, Chege 'overthrew' the former Head of State from Jubilee party leadership, after Uhuru appeared to side with suspended Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.

Sabina Chege currently occupies the position of Jubilee party caretaker leader.

Her camp consists of among others, interim Secretary General Kanini Kega.

They are leaning towards towards President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza alliance, while Uhuru and Kioni are in the camp that supports Azimio leader, Raila Odinga.

The vocal politician says Jubilee would have died a 'natural death' if they were to remain in Azimio.

"As for the Jubilee Party, if we stayed in Azimio, we would have died. If we hunted alone, we would have died. We thought it prudent to create an independent tact, supported by our friends, so that we could go out to hunt in good health, with full stomachs," said Chege.

She accused the former President of running down the former rulling party, through what she termed as mismanagement.

In 2017, Jubilee party had over 150 elected MPs.

The number came down drastically to only 28 after the August, 2022 polls.
