In a rousing speech to the residents of Homa Bay on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Gladys Wanga, National Chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Governor of Homa Bay County, strongly emphasized her party's commitment to the Azimio la Umoja Coalition and its leader Raila Odinga.

Wanga made it clear that ODM remains firmly within the Azimio coalition, dismissing any suggestions that the party may be forced out.

"We will continue to build our party, we will continue to strengthen our party, and we are in the Azimio, there is no one to remove us from the Azimio, there is no one to remove us from there, and our leader is Raila Odinga," she said emphatically.

The ODM Chairman's comments come amidst whispers and political trends within the Kenyan political environment.

Being one of the most important parties in the Azimio la Umoja Coalition , ODM has faced pressure from various sides, but Wanga was insisting that the party's loyalty to the alliance and to Odinga is still unwavering.

Wanga also defended the role of ODM MPs, stressing their role in providing oversight to the government.

"Our parliamentarians will continue with their oversight duties as they should be. No one should push us anywhere," she emphasized.

In addition, Wanga announced the party's right to make independent decisions, including receiving national leaders while emphasizing that, "If we receive the President here, it is our right to do so, any decisions we make as a party is our right to do it."

At the end, Wanga outlined her vision for ODM's future growth, promising to expand the party's influence across Kenya under the leadership of Raila Odinga.

"Our party will continue to strengthen, and we will grow from every corner of this country to become the biggest party that this country has ever seen behind Raila Amolo Odinga," she said.
