Hollywood is shaping society
By Robert Mutasi
People have been paying more attention to how the Hollywood industry affects social stories and influences what the public thinks.
The entertainment industry is participating in advocating for justice and human rights through multiple films.
Can Hollywood use its influence to help create social change? And should it be responsible for including the voices of marginalized groups.
Major issues like racial inequality, gender disparity and climate change are being discussed and displayed in the TV shows and movies.
Hollywood aimed at showing its commitment to addressing issues that are pressing. Some of these issues include racism, climate change and environmental sustainability.
These descriptions besides teaching people can also motivate them to take action and start important conversations about the future of our community.
A big duty comes with great strength. It will make a big sense should the Hollywood industry put more effort on stories of minority groups and trending issues like climate change and Gender Based Violence.
Representation gives these groups a chance to feel empowered and, when it’s genuine, to feel like they belong. However, using representation carelessly and badly can be harmful.
Hollywood needs to put more effort and focus when it comes to telling stories about race, gender, and climate.
These stories should be shared by the people who have lived through them so as to make a difference.
This is by involving the actresses, filmmakers and actors from the affected group so as to make more sense.
In the same way, climate change projects should be done with help from environmental experts to ensure their information is correct and useful.By doing so, it will gain trust from the public.
The entertainment industry does reach out to many audiences globally and can greatly influence how people see, perceive and talk about important issues in society.
The industry has to think carefully and wisely about how it can help tell different kinds of stories and encourage positive change in society.
