Kalonzo denies eyeing Attorney General post

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has denied allegations of eyeing a slot in President William Ruto's administration.

Addressing the press at the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka command centre in Nairobi on Thursday, Musyoka specifically denied reports linking him to the Attorney General position.

As a former Vice President, he said, the AG position is 'too junior' for him.

"Nobody has offered any position to me or to Wiper. That thing about Attorney General is a mirage. I may be senior counsel which is okay, maybe that's the attraction but this guy has been vice president of the republic and has been minister in many portfolios, do you expect me to serve Ruto as an Attorney General?"

President William Ruto has in the past one week nominated 10 Cabinet Secretaries as he crafts his broad based government.

However, the slots for CS East African Affairs and AG remain are yet to be filled.

Kalonzo, seen as Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leader, after Raila Odinga literally joined the Kenya Kwanza government through his four point men being nominated to the cabinet, is preparing to contest for the presidential seat in 2027.

Meanwhile, EmbaKasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has expressed disappointment, after 4 Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leaders accepted their Cabinet Secretary Position nominations from President William Ruto.

The four are John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandai, Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Ali Joho.

The vocal MP said he will now take up the mantle of fighting for the rights of Kenyans.

“From today henceforth I am the chief opposition leader because there are so many people who were in opposition but now they are in government. My interests is to fight for Kenyans. It pains me to see a person who was a fellow member of Parliament joining government,” said the vocal legislature.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna however maintains that the Orange Party has not joined the government.
