Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag Reveals Warnings Against Taking 'Impossible' Job
By Robert Mutasi
Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has disclosed that he was warned against becoming the manager of Manchester United as it seemed to be an "impossible" job.
The 53-year-old Dutchman moved to Old Trafford from Ajax in 2022 but has faced pressure in his second season in the role.
United are currently sixth in the Premier League table following a 2-1 victory on Wednesday evening against Chelsea, nine points behind leaders Arsenal, and have been struggling in Europe.
"Everyone was telling me, 'you can't succeed in that job'," Ten Hag told United We Stand fans.
"They said it couldn't be done. Me? I wanted a challenge. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but it's a great club with many fans. People either love Manchester United, or they're against Manchester United. I like clubs like this. Ajax was like this."
Ten Hag ended a six-year wait for the club to win a silverware by lifting the Carabao Cup in February before finishing the league in third place.
However, his squad is not on form this season following six defeats from 15 league games, and they are at the bottom of their Champions League group with one game remaining - at home against Bayern Munich next week.
