Motion to impeach Governor Kawira Mwangaza tabled

The County assembly of Meru has tabled a motion of impeachment against the County Governor Ms. Kawira Mwangaza.

The motion tabled by Leader of Majority Mr. Evans Mawira Kaaria today highlighted seven grounds upon which they want to impeach the Governor.

The seven include misappropriation and misuse of county resources, nepotism and related unethical practices, bullying, vilification, and demeaning other leaders, illegal appointments and usurpation of statutory powers, contempt of court, illegally naming a public road after husband and contempt of the assembly.

This is a second motion of impeachment against the Governor in a period of one year after the first one which was tabled by minority Chief Whip Mr. Denis Kiogora last year.

The assembly succeeded to impeach Governor Mwangaza but she was saved by a Senate Special Committee led by Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale, which said that none of the allegations raised against Governor Mwangaza by the Meru Assembly members could be substantiated or proved by her accusers.
