Murang’a Man fined for trafficking bhang

A Murang’a court has fined a young man Sh. 20,000 or in default serve a 4-month sentence after he admitted charges of selling bhang.

Jima Mwangi who appeared before Chief Magistrate Peter Ndigwa was charged that on June 26 at Kahuro shopping center in Murang’a County, he was found with five rolls of bhang of street value of Sh. 600.

According to the prosecution’s report, Mwangi was arrested at around 2.30 pm by police officers from the local station after they got a tip-off from some residents.

The bhang he found in his possession was presented in the court as an exhibit after it was tested in government chemistry.

Mwangi admitted the charges and pleaded for leniency saying he has been selling the drug to raise money for his upkeep.

During mitigation, Mwangi promised to change and embark on doing legal business if he was given another chance.
