Four people are nursing injuries at the Naro Moru level 4 hospital after a grisly road accident that claimed one life along the Naro Moru –Lamuria road as they were heading to a burial in Nakuru county.
Confirming the incident, Laikipia Central Deputy County Commissioner Marete Gitonga said that the 9.30 am incident left a 35-year-old woman dead after she was thrown through the sunroof of a Nissan X trail vehicle registration number KCR 197S after the driver lost control.
“It was a self-involved accident of a motor vehicle that was heading towards Nakuru from Nanyuki to attend a funeral. But on reaching the Solio area one of the passengers opened the sun roof in order to have a view of the wildlife across the road in the Solio rhino conservancy,” said the DCC.
Marete pointed out that the driver was cautioning the deceased woman to close the vehicle sunroof when he lost control and veered off the road throwing the woman out, was rammed by the same vehicle. She died on the spot. The driver escaped unscathed.
The body was removed to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem and at the same time, the vehicle was towed to Wiyumiririe police post.
