One dies as another recuperates after road accident

One bodaboda rider perished in a fatal road accident after he was hit by a lorry in Longisa, Bomet East, Monday.

The deceased who was headed to Bomet was said to have been killed on the spot, while his pillion passenger was rushed to Longisa County referral hospital in critical condition.

According to eye witnesses, the lorry is said to have hit the rider as he attempted to overtake another vehicle on the steep section towards Kipsoen river.

Stanley Mutai, the County Disaster manager, said road traffic accidents were on the rise urging travelers to beware of traffic rules if accidents were to be avoided.

Mutai said discipline on the roads was a sure way to avoid fatalities and loss of property as a result of accidents.
