One person shot dead as members of the public, police battle in Nambale

One person was shot dead on Monday, as members of the public confronted police in Nambale, Busia County.

Two others are nursing injuries.

The deceased, a boda boda rider died while undergoing treatment at the Nambale Sub County hospital, after being shot by police.

Among the injured is a 15-year-old boy, who was shot on his left hand.

According to eye witnesses, trouble started when a police vehicle reportedly hit and killed a high school student in Kisoko.

The officer who was behind the wheel, allegedly drove to the Nambale police station with the body.

That is when irked members of the public tried to invade the station.

Police reacted leading to the ugly confrontation.

By the time of going to the press, police leadership in the border County had not commended on the incident.

Last week, a police officer shot and killed a student in Kisumu.

The law enforcers were chasing after a public service vehicle driver, who had flaunted traffic rules, before the incident.
