Safety and security of Kenyans during the festive season
By Robert Mutasi
It is the season of festivities in Kenya and other many parts of the world where families, friends and relatives hold meetings and engage in cultural practices to celebrate with their loved ones.
However, as the nation prepares for the celebrations, this time is also characterized by growing concerns about the safety and security of its people.
While seasonality is associated with happiness and unity, it also presents specific challenges that require individual awareness and shared responsibility.
One of the main concerns is the increase in criminal activity during this period.
The holiday season is witnessing an increase in criminal activities such as theft, theft and car theft, especially due to the influx of people traveling to different parts of the country.
When many Kenyans return to their rural homes, the increase in behavior gives criminals a chance to attack when people are absent or careless.
Additionally, some opportunistic criminals use increased commercial activity, targeting individuals in busy markets and supermarkets.
Security authorities and agencies must take additional measures to ensure the protection of citizens. Although the presence of police may increase in urban areas, great importance should be given to rural areas and roads.
The holiday season is also a time when traffic accidents increase significantly. Poor road conditions, as well as reckless driving and under the influence driving, lead to fatalities.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) should implement strict road safety regulations and increase public awareness about accident reduction.
Furthermore, better traffic control, especially during most trips, is necessary to avoid avoidable accidents. Social security is supposed to be targeted because they are posed to attack during gatherings .
People must be cautious while travelling to ensure their safety is protected, because security is very important to everyone.
Kenyans should practice measures such as getting doors, avoiding night travel, and being cautious in public places can reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
This community policing also plays an important role in enhancing security.
