UDA members in Busia show dissatisfaction towards new cabinet nominees

Members of the United Democratic Alliance in Busia County have expressed their dissatisfaction with the nomination of cabinet secretaries. 

Speaking in Busia, on Monday, August 5, 2024, UDA Chairman of the county, Maurice Chetembe complained about how the nomination was made.

Chetembe said that President William Ruto did not appoint any member from the UDA Party to represent them from that area. 

He claimed that the former Minister of Sports, Youth and Torah Ababu Namwamba had no flaws in his performance. 

"If it is not Ababu Namwamba, we are asking him to find a representative for the UDA Cabinet," he said. 

"We have mentioned Namwamba because we, as members of the UDA Busia party, have not seen the mistakes of Mr. Minister Ababu," he added. 

The chairman said it would be good for President Ruto to re-appoint Namwamba. 

He explained how they were left alone while other communities were satisfied after the appointment of other leaders from the counties of those previously fired. 

"In other places, Linturi was the Cabinet Secretary when he was released, they sent back someone from Meru, if you go to Kisii, Machogu was the Cabinet Secretary after Machogu was released, someone from Kisii was sent back there and why here in our Busia County and the Western region like Ababu who was fired we were not represented?"complained Chetembe. 

Deputy Chairman of the party Lydia Nabwire said that Namwamba has become an important pillar in the UDA Party in Western region. 

She explained that Namwamba helped the party a lot to win the 2022 presidential race.

"Ababu has taken care of our party matters here. Busia has taken care of all the party matters, he is our base here. Apart from that during the 2022 elections, Ababu was the one who took care of all the affairs of the UDA party Western," said Nabwire. 

She has praised Namwamba for his performance, mentioning that it was the best in the Ministry. 

"The ministry that was given to Ababu performed very well and the President also knows it," he continued. 

Nabwire mentioned that Namwamba's loyalty to the President and the UDA party was strong. 

"For all those cabinet secretaries who were nominated in 2022, I know that Ababu has been a very close and loyal person to the President," she stated. 

Nabwire has urged  President to bring Namwamba back to continue promoting the youth talents in the country.
