Body of girl found dead

Shock has gripped residents of Wandumbi village in Tetu, Nyeri County after the body of a student was found dumped in a thicket.

The body of 19-year-old Peris Nyaguthii's was found 800 meters from their home by locals heading to their farms.

According to Duncan Nderitu Muthee an elder in the area, villagers found the body dumped in a napier grass farm in Kamahoru village Wandumbi area.

Muthee said he condemned the heinous act, saying the deceased was a student at Tetu vocational college.

The student was reportedly raped by unknown assailants and her body was dumped on the farm.

Muthee added that the assailants have now sent shock waves across the village.

He urged area leaders to install security lights in order to enhance security, especially during the night.

Speaking to KNA, another villager Moses Njuki said he was shocked by the sad news terming it as a ‘horrific.’

He said during the day he had seen the late Peris going to a nearby shop and they even greeted each other.

The residents are now urging police to conduct more patrols in the area.
