First-year student at MTTI stabbed to death by fellow student

A first- year student at Mawego Technical Training Institute (MTTI) in Homabay County was last night stabbed to death by a fellow student.

Stanley Ochieng, 23, was found unconscious on his bed at his rented house in Eladizi estate within Mawego today morning with knife wounds in his stomach.

Speaking to the press, Rachuonyo North Sub County Police Commander Lydia Parteye confirmed that Stanley was stabbed with a knife in his lower abdomen by Ibrahim Osinda, a second year student at MTTI who is his neighbour.

According to witnesses, she said, the two had an argument on the night of the incident over noise disturbance as a result of loud music being played at the deceased house. Stanley however, ignored his neighbour’s complaints.

"In a fit of rage, Osinda is suspected to have later gone back to the deceased house and stabbed him before escaping," said the Police Commander.

Parteye affirmed that the deceased was rushed to Gendia Mission Hospital in Kendu Bay town but was pronounced dead on arrival.

She said investigations were ongoing and assured that the suspect would be apprehended in due course.
