Diamond Platnumz opens up on Grammy Snub
By Robert Mutasi
Famous Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz has spoken his mind for the first time since he was not nominated for a Grammy Award.
He gave a very candid yet inspiring view during a media session in Dar es Salaam recently.
The event, which was part of a campaign for a prominent alcohol brand, saw the superstar reflect on his journey, his outlook on setbacks, and his faith in future success.
"As an artist, my biggest responsibility is to ensure I deliver my best work to get into the competition," Diamond said. "But we must accept that not every time will we be successful."
The "Waah!" hitmaker urged self-assessment over disappointment, and called upon artists to improve rather than get frustrated.
"When we falter, let's not abhor that failure. Rather, we need to assess where we slipped up," he said. "If my team and I don't achieve what we set out to do, I discourage grumbling. There one needs to fathom where we might have gone wrong-whether it is a lack of rapport or a flaw in our performance."
He also talked about faith when one faces various challenges in life. He encouraged artists and his fans to believe in the will of heaven and held the belief that everything happens per God's will.
"You have to believe that if something happens, Allah planned it, and shouldn't feel discouraged or insult anybody, but reflect on your reactions and probably try again; with time, things will align," he shared with the audience.
Diamond stated, "Grammys are competitive and there are many talented artists who have also been through this."
"There are so many who didn't get nominated despite having exceptional work. We believe in the quality of what we've created and in our efforts to share it with the world," he said. "Right now, we're putting out a lot of songs globally. Allah will guide us-if not next year, then soon-because nothing is impossible."
This is now the first time Diamond Platnumz has spoken openly about being snubbed from Grammys, showing how resilient he is and committed to his craft.
