Government to renovate Turkwel dam infrastructure

The government has given out about 126 million Shillings to renovate the Turkwel multipurpose dam in West Pokot County.
National government through Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) is set to do some improvements in Turkwel's infrastructure.
This is aimed at revamping to boost economic growth in the country.
The adjustments that are expected to be made at Turkwel dam will see it ranked among the Northern Kenya Tourism Circuit.
It is anticipated that tourism will generate vast revenue for the government.
The improvement will boost the number of visitors within and beyond West Pokot County.
KVDA stated that they will be committed to ensure required services are available so as to be given to the visitors.
Accommodation and conference facilities are some of the key infrastructures that are put into consideration in the program.
KVDA Management promised Kenyans that they will deliver the program in time so as to start generating revenue that will thrive the economy of the country.
Residents expressed their joy and welcomed the infrastructure program noting that it will benefit them.
Turkwel dam will not only boost the economy but also solve the long-term issue of insecurity in the region.
The majority of the residents will get job opportunities like running businesses near the dam infrastructure while others will be employed.
Employment will reduce the cases of insecurity in the region.
West Pokot is among the counties that have been affected by banditry attacks for years.
