Homa Bay county Woman Rep Dr. Joyce Osogo has cautioned the public against falling prey to a syndicate purporting to link job seekers to employment for a fee.

She said the fraudsters were moving around using her name and other public figures to con job seekers.

Speaking in Rachuonyo East Sub-County when she launched distribution of sanitary pads for school girls, Dr Osogo said the syndicate targets graduates who are seeking job opportunities in government.

She said some of the people who have fallen victim were those seeking employment at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and Public Service Commission (PSC).

"This matter has been reported to authorities and I believe action is being taken," Dr Osogo said.

County Commissioner Moses Lilan confirmed that he had received the reports.

He told residents to be wary against people asking them to pay in order to get job opportunities.

Dr Osogo said the criminals were most active whenever her office was rolling out economic empowerment programmes.

She said most victims were being asked to pay in order to be beneficiaries of the programmes she rolls out.

“Some people have been identified and are being traced. We have reported the cases to DCI in different regions," she said.

Dr Osogo claimed her political enemies were behind some of the con activities in a bid to frustrate her empowerment programmes.

“I will not sit back as some people tarnish my name, their day in court is neigh.” She said.

Dr Osogo told residents that vacancies must be advertised in local dailies or websites for different organizations.

"Whoever pays money to be employed is misguided. The Public Service Commission and Teachers Service Commission are tasked with recruitment, not politicians," She emphasized.

She told those who have been conned to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
