County Executives in Homa County have been challenged to diligently execute their mandates to improve the livelihood of citizens.
Governor Gladys Wanga warned that any lapses in service delivery would not be condoned in her administration.
Wanga read the riot act to the county officials during the signing of performance contracts in Homa Bay town Tuesday.
The officials who signed the performance contract were the Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga who is also the County Executive Member for Agriculture, County Secretary Bernard Muok, County Executive Committee Members Solomon Obiero (Finance), Danish Onyango (Roads).
Others were Sarah Malit (Sports), Polycarp Okombo (Trade), Roselyn Omollo (Health), Grace Osewe (Governance), Joash Aloo (Water), Peter Ogola (Lands), John Agili (Fisheries), and Martin Opere (Education) alongside all their Chief Officers.
Wanga said the contracts were binding the officials to achieve their targets in delivering services to the people of Homa Bay.
She noted that the performance contracts would be used as a yard stick for measuring the performance of every official.
“We cannot work without setting our objectives and targets of what we want to deliver to the people. These contracts will contribute significantly to assessment of performance of the officials,” Wanga said.
The Governor said that the contracts were aimed at enabling her administration to implement the manifesto they presented to the people of Homa Bay during campaigns.
“When we were campaigning with Magwanga in this county, we signed a social contract with the people of Homa Bay. This service delivery must be achieved,” Wanga said.
She said she would not allow any official to derail her efforts in delivering services to the people and warned that anybody who demonstrates laxity in service delivery would be sacked.
“If we fail to deliver services to the people of Homa Bay, they will send me and Magwanga home in 2027. But I cannot accept to be sent home because of someone who has decided to sleep on their job. You will be the first one to go home before I go,” Wanga said.
She told the county officials to be selfless and prioritize the interests of the common man.
“I want every county official to focus on serving the people first. Do not serve the interest of cartels,” Wanga said.
