Former National Police Service (NPS) Spokesperson Charles Owino has officially dropped out of the Siaya County gubernatorial race.
Owino is supporting former Rarieda Member of Parliament (MP) Nicholas Odero Gumbo, for the County's top seat. He will be his running mate.
The two will vie on the United Democratic Movement (UDM) party ticket, led by Mandera governor Ali Roba, having decamped from Orange Democtratic Movement (ODM).

"The main reason why we have come together is that we have noticed we are going to have serious voter apathy, our supporters have been complaining they were not going to vote without us on the ballot," said the career police officer.
However, observers hold the view that Owino and Gumbo may have decided to bolt out of ODM after realizing that they could not land the party's gubernatorial ticket.
Siaya Senator James Orengo is highly expected to get the Raila Odinga-led party's gubernatorial ticket, whether party primaries are held in Siaya or not.
The formation will hold its party primaries across 21 Counties in the Country, between April 1 and April 21, 2022. The date for ODM primaries in Siaya is April 14.
This comes as ODM chairman John Mbadi withdrew from the Homabay County gubernatorial race, giving a lifeline to Women Representative Gladys Wanga.
