Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has Saturday morning flagged off members of eight disciplines set to represent the County in the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Associations (KICOSCA) 2023 games to be held in Meru County.
Lusaka said that the team is the flag bearers of the county and they should carry themselves with decorum, adding that they had what it takes to go forth and emerge victorious.
The governor expressed optimism in the vetted teams, committing his full support. "The vetting committee led by the Ministry of Gender, Culture, Youth and Sports has selected top-notch sportsperson, we are fully behind you," he said.
According to County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Gender and Sports Carolyne Makali, the 10th edition of KICOSCA is geared towards strengthening inter-County relations, promoting National cohesion and nurturing talents in the Country.
Makali added that the highly popularized games to take place between August 20th -26th will see Bungoma County teams showcase prowess in Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, Cultural Dance, Folk Song, and Netball among others.
The ceremony at the County Headquarters was attended by CECMS, Chief Officers and other Senior County officers.
