Grief as man’s body is discovered

Grief has engulfed Koromait village in Chekalini location, Lugari Sub County after a 65-year-old man was found dead in his house under unclear circumstances.

The body of Stephen Okutoyi Atsali who was living alone after separating with the wife was discovered by a relative who was paying him a visit.

“ This is my nephew and he has been living here alone after separating  with his wife over five years ago. His children also abandoned him and moved elsewhere. His body was discovered by a nephew who had come to
visit him,” the deceased’s uncle Julius Kataka told the press at the homestead.

Kataka added that the deceased was last seen at Koromait trading center on Sunday evening and had not complained of any illness before his body was discovered in the house.

Chekalini location Chief Julius Mpapale said the cause of the death has not been established as the body had no visible injuries.

He regretted that the man’s family deserted him many years ago and he has been living under the mercy of neighbours.

He said the man’s body has since been moved to a mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County awaiting a postmortem.
