Kalonzo wants Raila, Karua to support his 2027 presidential bid
By Peter Ochieng
Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has trained his eyes on the 2027 presidential contest.
Speaking in Mwingi Central, Kitui County on Thursday, Musyoka said that having backed Odinga's presidential bids in 2013, 2017 and 2022, the ODM party boss should return the favour in 2027.
He said he expects Odinga and Martha Wangari Karua, his running mate in the 2022 presidential contest, to support him unconditionally. "I opted to back to the duo so that in 2027, Raila and Martha would support me too," said Musyoka, who has since been nicknamed the Buffalo Soldgier.
Musyoka said the new nickname gives him the drive to turn up in case the opposition calls for another round of demos.
He urged residents of Ukambani to show up in large numbers, in case the bipartisan talks fail to bear fruit and they have to get back to the streets to push for various demands, among them lowering the cost of living.
"Nothing comes easy and that's why they have nicknamed me buffalo soldier, I'm ready to face them head-on."
Musyoka last vied for the Presidency in 2007.
The Wiper Party boss alongside Odinga lost to former President Mwai Kibaki.
It is still not clear if Odinga will gun for the highest office in the land for the six time in 2027.
