The Kenya National Highway Authority (KENHA) will construction road bumps to slow down vehicles along Emali- Loitoktok road to curb rising number of road accidents.
This is after a student was killed on Sunday at Kimana trading centre after he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle.
While addressing the local community at Kimana on Monday during a collaborative meeting Senior Engineer of KENHA in charge of Emali - Loitoktok road, Eunice Kiambi said the authority will also establish road signs along the roadside for directing vehicles and pedestrians.
Kiambi sent a message of condolence to the bereaved family and appreciated the residents for not closing the road to express their anger.
The engineer also urged the road users to be wary while crossing the road by ensuring all sides are clear before crossing.
She further noted the request by the residents on KENHA to construct foot bridges.
Loitoktok Sub County Police Commander Shadrack Rutto warned drivers against speeding along the road saying it can result in drivers failing to manage their vehicles leading to accidents.
Kajiado South Constituency Member of Parliament Parashina Shakimba called on KENHA to install cameras and speed governors at Simba Cement to see drivers breaking traffic rules.
Since the beginning of this year, so far three students have died along the road after being knocked by vehicles.
