Kenyans react to Ruto’s latest cabinet nominees

President William Ruto on Wednesday named 10 Cabinet nominees, as he continues to craft what he terms as a broad-based government, about three weeks after dissolving his first cabinet.

In the latest list of nominees, the President has brought in four opposition members.

The full list consists of:

1. John Mbadi – National Treasury

2. Salim Mvurya – Investment Trade and Industry

3. Rebecca Miano – Tourism and Wildlife

4. James Opiyo Wandayi – Energy and Petroleum

5. Kipchumba Murkomen – Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports

6. Hassan Ali Joho – Mining, Blue Economy

7. Dr Alfred Mutua – Labour and Social Protection

8. Wycliffe Oparanya – Cooperatives, MSME

9. Justin Muturi – Public Service

10. Stella Soi Lang’at – Gender, Culture, Arts and Heritage

Mbadi (nominated MP), Wandayi (Ugunja MP), Hassan Joho (former Mombasa governor) and Oparanya (former Kakamega governor) are all ODM politicians. On the other hand, Mutua, Miano, Murkomen, Muturi and Mvurya are making a comeback from the dissolved cabinet.

“The opportunity we have to work together across different divisions is much greater than the challenge and the crisis we have in our hands,” said Ruto.

Shortly after his address, Kenyans took to social media platforms with a flurry of reactions and counter-reactions.

Here is a sample:

Kaka Mulungye: Something is not right, Ruto might be a good politician but not a good manager. Kenya should be disbanded.

Steel: This man never listens.

Seth Machwara: Are you pranking us? Misatih: Ruto must go. All his nominees must also go with him.

Nuru Okanga: My Lord, we reject these appointments.

Werosetem: Congratulations to them. It is now up to the Parliament to vet them.

Airdrops Kenyanese: Noma sana. I can now understand why guys from ODM walikuwa wanatushow tutulie. We are on our own. Damn it.

Chelaa: Breaking News: Gen-Z wants the new cabinet to resign.
