Man stabe 4-year-old Nephew to death

A 23-year-old man has stabbed his 4-year-old nephew three times on the neck and chest, killing him on the spot, under unclear circumstances.

The incident took place Tuesday at Kilingot village, Ossen location in Baringo North Sub-County, where the deceased resided with his grandmother.

Confirming the incident, the area chief Joshua Kandie told KNA on phone that the assailant could be having a mental problem and needs a mental assessment.

A village elder, Solomon Cheptumo said the assailant Cyrus Kipkosgei tricked the boy by buying him sweets and cakes.

He then managed to lock him up at the grandmothers’ main house after several failed attempts to have the boy go to his house, within the homestead.

“The incident took place at around 1 pm while the grandmother was in the shamba and I received a call from one neighbor saying they heard screams. I then rushed to the scene only to find the deceased body lying in a pool of blood and I immediately called the police,” Cheptumo said.

According to a neighbour, when the grandmother arrived from the shamba she tried searching for the boy and immediately suspected something.

She went to the main house, tried opening the main door but found it locked from inside and when she peeped through the living room window, she saw the deceased body lying on the sofa, prompting her to scream for help.

Neighbors rushed to the home and broke open the door and found the lifeless body lying on the sofa, with blood all over, while the assailant sat next to it drinking water.

The police arrived at 3pm and arrested the culprit who is being held at Kabarnet police station, while the body of the deceased was taken to Baringo County Referral hospital (BCRH) mortuary.
