Shinyalu Member of Parliament Mr. Fred Ikana has promised to purchase a school bus for one school in every ward in the constituency by the end of his first term in office.
The MP was speaking to Principals of Secondary Schools after delivering a school bus to Lugala Secondary school and commissioning the construction of an eight storey classroom Building at Munasio Primary school.
He said most schools in the constituency are struggling with intakes, enrolment and retention due to lack of facilities like Libraries, Laboratories and School Buses.
Ikana noted that parents and children are nowadays enlightened and will only choose a school that has proper infrastructure that would enable them to excel in their studies.
“I fully understand the challenges you are going through as the heads of schools. I know for sure it is not possible to accomplish what you wish to accomplish in an instant. But we can agree to embark on a coordinated journey so that I support you to achieve what you wanted for the schools,” he noted.
He said he will continue to support school heads to provide a conducive learning environment to constituent’s children to improve the education standards.
Meanwhile, in order to support parents who are struggling to pay school fees, the MP said he will launch the second round of disbursement of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) bursaries.
