Narok government Chief Forester Emmanuel Kinaiya was arraigned in a Narok Court Wednesday charged with conspiracy to defeat justice after he released a motor vehicle ferrying forest produce without a valid permit.
Kinaiya was accused of interfering with the execution of a criminal process by conspiring with Abraham Wachira and Patrick Ndungu, both of whom have cases pending before the court.
The court was told that the three committed the offense on 18th February, 2023 at the Narok County Government offices, where they released a motor vehicle registration number KCM 046A which had been impounded on February 3, 2023.
Kinaiya pleaded not guilty before Narok Chief Magistrate Samuel Mungai and sought to be released on a free bond arguing that he is a government official and his details are well known by the county government.
The Senior Principal Prosecution Director, who led the Prosecution side Duncan Ondimu told the court that the two other suspects, whose cases are already in court, were released on a bond of Sh. 300, 000 each and one surety.
The Chief magistrate opposed his request to be granted a free bond since the other two facing similar charges in the same case, were released on a heavy bond.
He was released on a bond of Sh. 300, 000 and one surety and the case will be mentioned on May 17, 2023.
