Political leaders drawn from Western Kenya have assured residents of development saying that they are obliged to deliver on the community’s sole mandate.

The leaders were speaking on Friday in Tongaren Constituency, when gracing the Homecoming and Thanksgiving ceremony for Ford Kenya Party Secretary General, Tongaren MP Mr. John Chikati.

Led by the Speaker of the National Assembly Mr. Moses Wetang'ula, they agreed unanimously that they are committed to service delivery for all, teaming it as their obligation.

"We are in Government, it's time to reap in equal measure the National Government development cake," he said.

The Speaker reiterated the importance of unity while urging the Western Kenya frontier to stick together to realize development. "United we stand, divided we fall; we must soldier on as a belt to actualize the dreams of our people," he emphasized.

According to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who was also present, Western leaders need to engage in the same discourse to marshal more resources to develop the Counties.

"We have a purpose to deliver for our people. Let us unite and appropriate more resources to enhance development," said Mudavadi.

At the same time, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka affirmed that through joint efforts with the National Government, the long-stalled Misikhu-Brigidier road is now on course and that the contractor is on site.

"After the long wait, I am happy to report that work on the major road that connects Tongaren to other areas has commenced. We will monitor the contractor closely to ensure the standard is maintained,” he said.

Lusaka further cautioned the contractor against shoddy work, saying that substandard work won't be allowed. “Do quality work or exit. We will pitch camp to ensure the road is completed on time to open up the economy in the region," he observed.

In attendance were Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha, Principal Secretary Industrialization Dr Juma Mukhwana, Chief Administrative Secretary Wakili Sudi Wandabusi, Senators, Women Representatives, MPs, MCA, CECMs, Clergy, Senior County Government officials among others.
