By Peter Ochieng Kenyans will now be able to witness real-time action as detectives take on crime suspects, most likely head on in various parts of the Country. This is after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) acquired hi-tech body cameras. According to a public statement by the DCI, the cameras have different capabilities, key among them live stream ability. "The sophisticated high definition body-cams have infrared, night vision live stream capabilities. They will form part of our crime management kit and will record real-time events as they unfold," stated the DCI on social media. "This follows overwhelming requests from netizens, following us on our interactive social media pages." With over 410, 000 followers on Facebook, the DCI page is among the security platforms most followed by Kenyans on social media. A section of Kenyans who reacted to the DCI statement suggested that the traffic police department also acquires the cameras. "In the Western World, these cams are mandatory for every officer on patrol. Now extend the same, backed by law, to all traffic officers on the road," said Njeri Sylvia. Fredrick Keter said, " Now can the same be extended to traffic officers manning roadblocks? That way both parties, drivers and the good officers can be safe. Also, encourage the government to provide subsidized CCTV to businessmen." "This is the most innovative and efficient police outfit in this Country. Your professionalism in communication, investigation and collaboration is cutting edge in building confidence among citizens than criminals will always be where they belong, prison," commented Samwel Omondi. "This is very commendable. Ensure the officers cannot switch them off while on duty," said one Isaac Mwaura.
