Residents of Rida Amboseli benefit with a hospital

Residents of Risa Amboseli village in Kajiado South Constituency have all reason to smile after a non-Government Organisation commissioned a health facility in the area.

While overseeing the launch of the healthcare facility, Chief Executive Officer, Dandelion Africa Wendo Azed said the initiative was mooted after seeing how the local community covered long distances to seek healthcare services elsewhere.

Wendo pointed out the nearest hospital, Namelok, was about 30 kilometers away thereby subjecting patients especially expectant women untold suffering to access the facilities.

She said many expectant mothers have been forced to deliver at home hence endangering their lives in case of complications during delivery.

The CEO further observed that not only do the mothers suffer during delivery but also have difficulties in accessing immunization for their children hence may go with essential immunization against diseases.

Wendo also noted that with establishment of the healthcare facility, the level of HIV infection in the region will go down citing that Kajiado County is one of the counties with high HIV infections.

She said the modern healthcare facility has modern machines which will help health service providers to provide quality healthcare services.

Kajiado South Constituency Member of Parliament, Sakimba Parashina who graced the event called upon the county government of Kajiado to be on the forefront in supporting local community projects which are aimed at improving the lives of the local residents.

He also requested officials of the Olgulului farm under which the health facility stands to consider increasing the land for the healthcare facility for more infrastructures.
