Sabina Chege regrets declining Ruto's offer to deputise Sakaja

Nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Sabina Wanjiru Chege is living in regret.
Had she taken President William Ruto's offer, today she would be the deputy governor of Nairobi.
Ahead of the August, 2022 general elections, Ruto, then deputy president reached out to Chege with an enticing offer to deputise Johnson Sakaja, in the Nairobi county gubernatorial contests on the UDA ticket.
Chege, then Murang'a county Women Representative declined.
She declared that she was not vying for an elective seat, and threw her weight behind Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
She was reportedly earmarked for a Cabinet Secretary (CS) slot had Odinga won the race to State House.
During an interview on Inooro TV on Friday, Chege said she regrets not taking up Ruto's offer.
"If I had taken that opportunity, today I would be very big in politics. So it pains me to hear people say that I was bought to undermine retired president Uhuru Kenyatta's control of Jubilee party," she said.
The nominated legislature is in the camp of Jubilee party politicians supporting President Ruto's administration.
She is the interim party leader after 'overthrowing' Kenya. She accused Kenyatta of failing to mentor young leaders from Mt Kenya during his 10 year reign, only "working hard to bring them down."
"It is him who should thank us. We stood by him, voted and supported him for 10 years as president and Mt Kenya kingpin. In the process, we voted for him three times after his 2017 victory was nullified by the Supreme Court."
