School principal singles out 2023 KCSE results as among the most credible

Kagumo High School Principal Dr Silas Mwirigi has termed the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) results as among the most credible to date.

Speaking moments after his school emerged as the best in Nyeri County after posting a mean score of 9.306 points, the chief tutor similarly said he was impressed with his school's performance after 21 candidates scored straight As.

Ryan Thabuku, Kamore Villa, and Japheth Mwangi are among the students from the school whose faces appeared in local dailies after emerging among the top scorers in the country.

At least 211 of all the 396 students who sat for last year's KCSE exams in the school have managed to attain their required University entry point after scoring at least a B and above.

 Overall,96 percent of all the 2023 candidates in the school have secured university placement after attaining the cut-off point of C plus.

“We have received our results and are impressed with our performance as a school. Out of the 396 candidates who sat for last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams,97 have attained between an A and A minus. Similarly, a total of 211 candidates also managed to score a B plan and above. The results are credible, the real results for the country and the children. The exams were secured well this time around. These are good grades and a good beginning,” he told journalists upon receiving the results.

 Elsewhere Mureen Wambui from Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls Nyeri has put her name on the national map after she scored a straight A of 82 points.

 Other students from the school who scored a similar grade included Irene Wangui Ndung’u, Teresia Wanjiru Njoroge and Terry Ann Kimono.

At Giakanja Boys High School,89 students out of the 287 candidates who sat for the exams managed to secure a place at the university after they scored C plus and above.

Two students managed to score an A minus while 25 others scored B and above.

 In Bonaventure Kahati Boys High School ,115 candidates out of the 247 who sat for the KCSE exams sailed through after scoring C plus and above.

The school also managed to post six A-minuses while 38 candidates scored a B plain and above.

Kanjuri High School also posted impressive results after six of its candidates who sat for the exams scored an A minus.

Overall, 172 candidates out of the 243 who wrote last year's KCSE exams in the school are assured of a place at the university after scoring C plus and above.

The results which were announced on Monday by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu saw a total of 201,133 candidates book their place at the university after managing to attain the required entry grade of C plus.

At least 899,453 candidates had registered for the national exams which have seen public schools outshine private ones.
