A secondary school teacher suspected to have defiled a 16-year-old girl has been arrested in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County.
Ndhiwa Sub County Police Commander Paul Rioba confirmed the incident saying the 29-year-old teacher at Nyamogo Girls Secondary School was arrested in his house at Ratang'a trading center.
The police boss said the teacher was accused of defiling the girl on diverse dates from early last year.
According to local residents, the accused lured his female students into sexual relationships using cakes while those who declined his advances were subjected to cruelty by caning unnecessarily.
The girl's father said he came to discover a relationship between the teacher and his daughter when the minor started experiencing symptoms of pregnancy.
The father said he had to liaise with police to ensure the teacher was arrested.
"This is my first born and what I know is that a child cannot concentrate in class if she is being taught by a teacher who is her sexual partner," the parent added.
Rioba also confirmed that the teacher is currently under interdiction due to other cases of defilement.
"Preliminary investigations revealed the teacher was interdicted in November last year to allow the Teachers Service Commission to investigate him. He was accused of defiling other girls in the school," Rioba said.
The teacher is being held in Ndhiwa Police Station and is expected to be charged once investigations are complete.
