Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu Flagged off the 2024 KCB Scholarships program where 1000 new beneficiaries joined the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) scholars’ family of 5657 scholars since inception. 

“It is only through education that this country can be able to attain the objectives and goals as set out in the Kenya Vision 2030,” said Machogu. 

 In its culture of empowering the dreams and aspirations of bright but needy learners, the CS commended the KCB group for partnering with the government to ensure the 100 percent transition to secondary education.

CS Machogu emphasized the deliberate will of the financial institution to give back to society through sponsoring education among other projects for public benefit. 

Machogu shared the KCB experience of their mantra for the people for the better during the commissioning of the 2024 recipients of the scholarship saying that was the best way to contribute to the country's development.

Quoting former South African President Nelson Mandela, he reiterated that education was the best weapon to change the world. 

One of the recipients of the KCB Scholarships Syvia Ombiro emerged as the best student in Alliance Girls scoring a plain A and all As in each subject with the possibility of be one of the best doctors in the world as she pursues her dream career. 

 The CS appreciated the partnerships of the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF,) and Equity Group implementing the 9000 Elimu scholarships for last year's KCPE cohort which will be commissioned Friday 19th by H. E President William Ruto at the Bomas of Kenya. 

The Education Minister affirmed the government's commitment to offering scholarships to the needy including using Affirmative Action to reach the marginalized, gender-responsive, students with disabilities, and the vulnerable through partnerships in education such that no one is left behind. 

 "Skilled and knowledgeable workforce attracts investment development in the country" observed the CS 

Machogu noted that he looks forward to the implementation of the Presidential workforce on education recommendations to empower human resources through quality education. 

2023 KCPE was the last under the 844 system and one cannot repeat class eight as was before since there's no class eight. 

The Minister said the Government will propel towards 100 percent transition and contribute to the enhancement of the learning environment ensuring the realization of the fundamental right to education. 

Education is a powerful tool for reducing poverty and inequality. By providing access to quality Education families and communities can increase their opportunities for employment and income generation.
