12 people die in Voi accident

Families of at least 12 people are mourning their kin, who died in a road accident in Voi, Taita Taveta county on Thursday evenning.

The accident involved a lorry and a Nissan, after the two vehicles collided head-on at Ndii area, along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

Two people sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to hospital.

Voi OCPD Bernstein Shari confirmed the accident.

"I can confirm 12 deaths and two injuries. We are organising transportation of the dead bodies to the morgue and the injured are already in the hospital," he said.

The Nissan involved in the accident belongs to Genesis company.

It was headed to Mombasa at the time of the accident.

Kenyans online continue to share condolence messages to the families of the beareved.
