Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Buluma, has urged the opposition to evolve their political strategies amidst Saba Saba Day.

He stated that they need to change their way of thinking about politics and adopt new forms of political engagement.

Speaking in an interview with Citizen TV on Friday, the KYPA CEO encouraged political leaders, particularly those in opposition, to abandon outdated political tactics that are not beneficial to the country.

Buluma challenged politicians to use this Saba Saba Day to voice their grievances constructively.

He emphasized that Kenya is still practicing old politics that result in violence, division, and chaos.

"The history of Saba Saba should not allow us to repeat the events of the 1990s, because we need to adopt the mindset of 2023," said Buluma.

Commenting on Azimio la Umoja's scheduled meeting set to take place today at Kamukunji ground, Nairobi, Buluma urged them to change their tactics and express their grievances peacefully.

Buluma stated there is no need for Azimio to march toward the Central Business District in Nairobi city.

He warned that such a movement to the CBD would interfere with normal business activities in the city, thus leading to losses.

He advised the opposition to adhere to the constitutional requirement of peaceful and organized protests.

"In 2023, we are in a more progressive constitutional dispensation that allows for better and more organized ways of protesting. There are obvious reasons why such restrictions are necessary, given past incidents of protest we've witnessed," he stated.

Furthermore, he urged Azimio to obey police restrictions to avoid conflicts.

The Ministry of Defence has permitted the opposition to proceed with their meeting at Kamukunji only. They warned them not to stage any protests at the CBD.
