Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hailed Raheem Sterling as an "incredible player full of life", with the Spaniard leaving no doubt that he will be a difficult man to handle on a Premier League stage for many years to come.
Ahead of his side's showdown with Arsenal Arteta spoke about Sterling's desire and concentration, showing plenty of faith in the forward to have a big 2024/25.
Speaking during a press conference Arteta reveals his first thoughts of the England international, claiming within seconds of watching Sterling he could see he was up for the fight.
“I can see he’s hungry. I knew that within 10 seconds — we must get him here!" said Arsenal boss, who instantly bonded with Sterling when he saw him conduct himself on the training pitch.
Arteta, a coach who is renowned for being highly studious and particularly mindful of how different footballers develop, has an affinity with skillful individuals but also places value in their psychological and emotional determination to succeed.
He feels Sterling is demonstrating them better than anybody else right now.
"He looks great. One, because he is smiling big. A lot of energy." Arteta said "What he wants to do is just prove a point."
There has been a lot of talk over Raheem Sterling amidst his struggles in form.
The forward, once the darling of Manchester City had a turbulent few seasons before landing up at Chelsea.
Injuries and form had many questioning whether Sterling could recapture his sensational best which once made him one of the Premier League's most feared forwards.
But Arteta has indicated that Sterling is in the process of reaching a point where confidence is recovered and knows he possesses strength of mind.
The ease at which the manager saw Sterling’s desire seconds after meeting him is telling as to how much things have turned around in that particular front.
There is no doubt that Sterling will have a crucial role to play in Arsenal's plans this season with the Gunners competing on several fronts.
Success on the domestic and European stage will hinge upon his skill in breaking down oppositions as well as producing when games are on the line.
Sterling, 17, could then prove to be a key figure next year for an Arsenal team gearing up for a crucial season under Arteta.
Now with the support of his manager and a clearer focus, much will be expected from him on proving to that faith.
