At least 37,023 additional beneficiaries under Inua Jamii Programme, have been registered in Makueni County in the last one month in a scale up exercise.

This includes Older Persons (OPs) 27,197, People With Disabilities (PWDs) 3,450 and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) 6,376 respectively who were enlisted between 1st to 30th September 2023.

The revelations were made on Tuesday by County Coordinator for Social Development Mr. Daniel Kitheka in his Wote office where he said that a total 66,250 has been scaled up from 29,227 beneficiaries who are now enlisted in the cash transfer programme.

 “The new beneficiaries were registered by our officers at either Sub-County or at chief’s offices across the County,” said Kitheka while speaking to KNA.

He observed that the next step will now be that the beneficiaries will be enrolled to ensure they open accounts either with Equity, KCB, Cooperative, Post Bank, National Bank and Kenya Women Microfinance.

The coordinator disclosed the number of newly registered beneficiaries as per constituency are Makueni 8,159, Mbooni 8,328, Kibwezi West 6,298, Kaiti 5,403, Kibwezi East 4,659 and Kilome 4,176 respectively.
