Babu Owino's wife reveals where he's being detained

Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino's wife has revealed the police station he is being held.

In a video posted on the MP's social media pages some hours to mid night, Fridah Ongili said the vocal legislature is being unlawfully held at Wanguru police station in Mwea.

She said the MP called him on Tuesday night, informing her that he had been arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

"He promised to call me again but never did because his phone went off," said Fridah.

On Wednesday morning, her first stop was at the DCI headquarters but she did not find the second term ODM MP.

She moved to various police stations withing Nairobi, among them Muthaiga, Gigiri, Embakasi and Kilimani to no avail.

She finally learned that he was being detained at the Wanguru police station. According to the video, police did not allow her to see her husband.

"I just want to see him, give him food and medicine because he was not feeling well," she pleaded.

The MP was arrested hours before the start of the three day protests called by Azimio leadership.

Fridah urged Azimio leader Raila Odinga to intervene, so that her husband is set free.

She said his only crime was fighting for reduction of the cost of living, for the sake of Kenyans experiencing difficult economic times.
