The County government of Bungoma has landed a multi billion bulk water and sanitation project, from the national government.
The Sh33 billion project entails a host of activities, including creation of new waterlines, sewerage system and renovation of the existing ones across four constituencies in the Western region devolved unit.
The constituencies are Webuye East, Webuye West, Kabuchai and Kanduyi.
On Wednesday, Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka met the Principal secretary for Water Dr. Paul Rono at Maji house Nairobi, where information on the multi billion project was made public.
"These are the benefits of county bosses having a cordial relationship with the national government. County allocations can't fund such projects," said Lusaka.
Dr. Rono on his part disclosed that additional funds have been allocated for rehabilitation of Mt. Elgon Dam, Nabuyole and Namasanda dam totaling to a sum of Sh2.2 billion.
According to the plan, Webuye town which has never had a sewer line, will benefit with a new sewerage system.
In Bungoma town, the project will entail rehabilitation of the current sewage system with a further extension to another line to Kibabii.
