Bungoma health workers recieve promotion letters

By Peter Ochieng

Health workers in Bungoma county have every reason to smile.

Governor Ken Lusaka on Monday handed over promotion letters to them, affirming his commitment to ensure residents get quality and better healthcare services.

198 healthcare workers have been promoted, including 6 doctors, 28 clinical officers, 118 nurses, 4 laboratory officers and 42 others.

“My administration will do everything possible to ensure residents get quality and better healthcare,” he said.

The county boss called on the medical fraternity to uphold professionalism, in line of their duties.

Similarly, he extended the terms of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) officers for a further one year, after which they will be absorbed on permanent and pensionable terms.

“We have also extended the terms of UHC officers for a year and will be confirmed on permanent and pensionable terms upon expiry of the one year."

"Those whose contracts were renewed and working under UHC include 23 clinical officers, 92 nurses, 50 community health extension workers, two community health assistants, 17 laboratory technologists, 15 Health records and information officers and others 46."

The former Senate Speaker added that the casual workers in Level 4 hospitals will have a one year contract up from the initial 3 months.

He challenged head of departments in Bungoma county to review the schemes of service, and recommend employees who deserve promotion.
