Peter Muchendu has resigned from his position as deputy organizing secretary of the Chama cha Kazi, led by Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria.
The party has been faced with claims of shortchanging aspirants, which may have played a role in his resignation.
They were either allegedly denied tickets or asked to withdraw from various races.
Muchendu decided to quit, citing among others mistrust and 'poor' leadership by party leader Moses Kuria. The vocal MP is eyeing the Kiambu gubernatorial seat.

Through a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, Muchendu said he resigned out of his own volition.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen, this update is to inform you that I PETER MUCHENDU GITHECI without being forced or instructed has parted ways with CHAMA CHA KAZI (CCK) & its leader based on ideological differences and my personal political beliefs," he posted.
"I wish the party & its party leader well..... having been a founding member of the party, it's very painful, very unfortunate but a necessary political move for me...........to my great friends and colleagues at CCK, I will always treasure and cherish you guys. Blessed times ahead," he added.
On Monday, April 18, 2022, he gave a clear indication of the party after posting as thus, "Some political decisions are very painful but unfortunately they have to be made."
By the time of going to press, Kuria was yet to publicly comment on Muchendu's resignation.
