Chelsea sack Graham Potter

Graham Potter is no longer Chelsea Football Club head coach.

The English Premier League (EPL) side parted ways with Potter on Sunday night, a day after the Blues went down 0-2 to visitors Aston Villa in an EPL match.

In a statement, Chelsea announced that Potter had agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition.

"In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future," reads the statement in part.

"Bruno Saltor will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach."

Co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said:

"On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome."

"Along with our incredible fans, we will all be getting behind Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a Champions League quarter final ahead. We will put every effort and commitment into every one of those games so that we can end the season on a high."

Graham Potter joined Chelsea in September, 2022 from rivals Brighton shortly after Todd and his co-owner finalised the process of purchase of the Club from former owner, Russian Roman Abramovich.

His reign has been characterized by inconsistent results, with Chelsea out of the race for a top four spot.

He presided over 31 games; won 12, lost 11 and drew 8, translating to a 39% win rate.

He replaced Thomas Tuchel who is now Bayern Munich manager.

Out of job Julian Nagelsman is the favourite to succeed Potter at Stamford Bridge.

The 35-year-old Nagelsman was sacked by Bayern last week, two years into his reign.

Potter's dismissal came about 7 hours after the sacking of Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.

Rodgers had been in the Foxes dugout for four years.
