Kilifi County Commissioner Josephat Biwott has called for close cooperation amongst government departments to improve service delivery to the public.
Speaking during his first meeting with the County Service Delivery Committee (CSDC) meeting on Wednesday at Kilifi town, Biwott said the disconnect in communication and coordination between sectors is undermining important services meant to benefit the people.
The county commissioner pointed out critical issues such as processing of title deeds, allocation of resources, approval, and implementation of projects saying lack of proper cooperation has stalled the processes.
He asked all the players both from the national and county government to jointly work together to quickly handle issues that have been taking too long to be solved.
"All representatives of the various departments should be here so that we can streamline issues together as a team. Please let us work together, one department needs support from the other, and things become easy if we cooperate", he said
"There are some issues that don’t need attention from officials working in Nairobi, we have people in all departments working here. If it is a land issue, letters can be written and some processes can be done here with the help of the concerned offices", he added.
He further explained that close coordination of activities will give support to each other such as sharing of resources and personnel.
Transport and facilitation have been an issue of concern that has affected service delivery but unity, he said, can solve the problem to some extent.
"Some departments have fuel but may lack a vehicle, where is the problem when I go and ask Amref to assist me with their vehicle? You can go to the DCC or use my vehicle because most of us have transport that we can share with those who don’t have it for the time being," he pleaded.
He also insisted on strong communication amongst the state departments and agencies to keep everyone informed and act swiftly, when their support is needed.
