County, KOG keen to promote reproductive health

The County Government of Uasin Gishu through the Department of Health Services, hosted the North Rift Kenya Obstetric and Gynecological Society (KOGs), during its inaugural annual symposium, with the theme; Reproductive Health in the Post-COVID era.
Speaking when he presided over the event in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu, County Chief Officer (CO) for Preventive and Promotive Health, Dr. Paul Wangwe, reiterated the need for innovative strategies, to ensure that essential reproductive health services, continue to be available to all, even in the face of future.
The inaugural event brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers, to discuss the challenges and opportunities that the COVID-19 pandemic has posed to reproductive health.
The CO emphasized the urgent need to address the setbacks caused by COVID-19 to reproductive health.
The key points discussed included the importance of governance in reproductive health, transformational leadership practices, enhancing access to reproductive health services, and strengthening health systems.
Dr. Wangwe underscored the crucial role of governance in addressing reproductive health challenges and achieving the desired reproductive health goals.
“Good governance practices ensure that policies and programs are effectively implemented, resources are allocated appropriately, and accountability mechanisms are in place,” he noted.
He affirmed that health professionals needed to implement effective governance practices and embrace transformational leadership, to ensure the well-being of individuals and communities in terms of reproductive health.
He further explained a valuable understanding of how these factors contribute to a comprehensive approach toward reproductive health.
The KOGS is a leading advocate for women's sexual and reproductive health and rights in Kenya. As part of its mission to ensure that everyone has access to high-quality healthcare, KOGS has been actively involved in the process to safeguard women's rights.
It recognizes that access to sexual and reproductive health care is a fundamental human right and is committed to promoting policies and programs that advance women's health and well-being.
The participants had the opportunity to engage in lively discussions and share their experiences and research findings in the realm of reproductive health.
